2012 Book List

This year I made 12 New Year's Resolutions for myself, one of them being that I would read 40 books in 2012 (7 more books than I read in 2011). With two young daughters I knew this would be a challenge, but I have almost completed my goal! I just need to complete 2 more books before December 31st and according to my Kindle I am 42% of the way through one of those, so my goal is completely attainable at this point. Here is a list of all the books I have read so far this year:

1. A Weekend With Mr. Darcy by Victoria Connelly (I love this author! Her books are a lot of fun to read.)
2. Black Heels to Tractor Wheels by Ree Drummond
3. The Gingerbread Girl by Stephen King (audiobook)
4. Roast Mortem by Cleo Coyle
5. Changing Diapers by Kelly Wels (A must read for anyone who wants to cloth diaper. It's awesome!)
6. Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks (A really great historical fiction book about the plague.)
7. Hana by Lauren Oliver
8. Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver
9. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (I have read this at least 4 times in the past, can't get enough!)
10. The Giver by Lois Lowry
11. The Bridges of Madison County by Robert James Waller (I didn't particularly like this one.)
12. The Witch's Daughter by Paula Brackston
13. Explosive Eighteen by Janet Evanovich
14. Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris
15. The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen by Syrie James
16. One Perfect Week & Other Stories by Victoria Connelly
17. I'm Starved For You by Margaret Atwood (Kindle short)
18. Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris
19. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
20. Wicked Appetite by Janet Evanovich
21. Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
22. On The Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves (One of my favorites this year.)
23. Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris
24. Murder by Mocha by Cleo Coyle
25. Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James (Yes, I'm one of those ladies!)
26. Fifty Shades Darker by E L James
27. Witch and Wizard: The Fire by James Patterson + Jill Dembowski
28. Fifty Shades Freed by E L James
29. Dreaming of Mr. Darcy by Victoria Connelly
30. Wicked Business by Janet Evanovich
31. Train Like a Mother by Dimity McDowell & Sarah Bowen Shea
32. Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford (Another great historical fiction.)
33. A Journey to the Centre of the Earth by Jules Verne (I adore Jules Verne!)
34. The Help by Katherine Stockett (A really wonderful story! Part dead tree book/part audiobook.)
35. Run Like a Mother by Dimity McDowell & Sarah Bowen Shea
36. I am Legend (and other stories) by Richard Matheson (So different from the movie!)
37. The Magicians by Lev Grossman

After looking over my list I realize I tend to read multiple books by the same author and I read a lot of YA fiction (which I already knew, some of the best books I have ever read were young adult books). I am so glad I had my Kindle Fire this year to read on! My husband bought it for me last Christmas and it has saved my wrists on multiple occasions from the huge heavy books I like to read. I love how easy it is to slip into my purse or bag (or diaper bag!), although I have to admit I usually have a dead tree library book waiting in the wings for me when my battery dies since it does take awhile to recharge.

I think next year I will shoot for 45 or 50 books. Who knows, maybe one of these years I will get up to a book a week? I already have an ongoing list of books I want to read with at least 20 books on it, so I have a good handle on what I will be reading next year already and it includes a lot more historical fiction. I discovered I really like historical fiction this year, though I have never been drawn to it before. If anyone has any suggestions of good books leave them for me in the comments section!
