A somewhat disjointed post

Things have been busy around here the past few weeks, hence the lack in blogging! I thought that instead of writing a long post about one specific thing, I would post a bunch of pictures with short explanations of a few things that have happened lately.

 As far as knitting goes:
I started the Campfire Sweater for my three year old daughter. She picked out the colors (light pink with a dark pink detail for the chest) and this is the beginning of the first sleeve.

I finished the Little Coffee Bean Cardigan for my friend's daughter. I really love this sweater, probably because purple and yellow are awesome, and also I love stripes!

I finished my Simple Ribbed Socks and somehow knit both heel flaps completely differently. To be fair I did knit one whole sock and then knit up to the heel flap of the other sock and then these sat in the closet for about a year before I decided that they needed to be finished. Whatever I did with the first sock I did not write down and didn't remember by the time I pulled them out again. Oh well.

I rediscovered my succulent after 4 months. We switched rooms with the girls and I had set this plant in the windowsill of our old room so it could get direct sunlight. We never open the blinds in our rooms because those windows look directly into our neighbor's windows, so imagine my surprise when I went to clean the room and discovered my it had grown an 7 inch long appendage with flower buds on the end of it! I have since moved it to the kitchen and the tiny pink and yellow flowers are blooming and making me wish Spring would hurry up already.

I made chicken onigiri and raspberry white chocolate scones this week. Both were pretty darn delicious!

At the end of February my total miles I have run for the year was 110! Considering when I started keeping track last year to the end of the year (April-December) I only tallied about 160 miles, already running 110 this year is a pretty big deal for me. My goal for the year was to run 300 miles, but since I am half marathon training and we are only 2 months into the year, obviously I will surpass that goal.

I also ran my had my first ever 9 mile run last weekend with my friend Christie. We set out to run 8 miles and then kind of got lost and ended up running 9.6! Today is supposed to be my first 9 mile run, but since I have already went above and beyond the 9 mile mark, I am confident I can run the 9 miles by myself with no problems. This time I will make sure to pack adequate calories and water. I could have really used an extra gel last weekend. I'm hoping since the snow has been holding off and the sun has been shining that I will have nice clear paths to run on today.

We use Bumgenius 4.0 diapers and Flip cloth diapers on our daughter who is not potty trained yet and after about a year of use, the 3 diapers we had that had velcro instead of snaps were literally disintegrating. I realized the other day when one of the sides of her diapers wouldn't stay shut that either I had to replace the velcro or we were going to  be out 3 diapers, which means more frequent washing and no fun for me. So I bought some snaps pliers and a pack of white snaps at JoAnn Fabrics and replaced all the velcro with snaps. The first diaper gave me some trouble, but after that it was incredibly easy and I wish I had done it a few months ago. Here is a link to a conversion tutorial for anyone who is interested. You can also buy all your supplies from this site, including snaps that match the color of the snaps already on the diapers, but I am not that picky.

Well that is a pretty good sampling of the past few weeks. I will try to post more frequently in the upcoming days and will definitely make a yarn along post on Wednesday. The sun is shining today and I can't wait to get out and run, I can tell already it is going to be a great week!

    1. Yay! I'm glad I got it to you in time for her to actually have it fit!
Isn't that flower weird? I think I am going to start collecting succulents, I like all the different varieties and they are very low maintenance.
