Halfway through Summer

I've said it before and here it is again: I cannot believe how fast this Summer is flying by! I wonder if part of it is that I know that my oldest child will be starting preschool in September and I want to pack in as much fun stuff as I can before she starts school. Here's a little taste of some fun things we have been doing so far this Summer. Most of the pictures are from my iPhone, I apologize in advance!

The library downtown has a huge sidewalk sale each Summer in the beginning of June. I go each year and pick up a couple books. You can buy books for $0.10 each or you can pay $2.00 for a paper sack that you can cram as many books as possible in to. As I was walking along the tables, the stack I was carrying was getting heavy very quickly, so I opted to buy the bag and ended up taking home 17 books! I have read 4 of the books before, but wanted to add them to my collection.

I did a Brooks sponsored run with the Urban Herd. We all got to try Brooks shoes for our run (these are Ghost 6 and will probably be my next shoe purchase, I loved them!), got some free swag (a Brooks hand towel that I have been using for hot yoga, a sticker and GU-I'm waiting for a special run to try this flavor!) and after the run Oberon and Guinness or rootbeer floats were provided. Pretty awesome if you ask me!

The girls and I have been experimenting with popsicle flavors. This one was orange juice and lemonade.

My aunt, uncle, and cousins visited from Iowa for my Grandparent's 60th wedding anniversary party and they brought my girls this awesome fairy garden that they put together themselves.

We've been visiting the Farmer's Market every Saturday that we can. These are some breakfast radishes we saw a couple weeks ago.

We bought the girls a playhouse as a big birthday gift for both of them and spent one very hot day putting it together in the garage.

The girls and I are participating in the Summer Reading Games at the library. For every day we read 20 minutes we get to put a checkmark on the calendar, and after 15 days we get a prize. The first prizes were books for the girls and a pen for me.

We took our oldest to see her first fireworks.

I started practicing yoga again after about a year hiatus. I am taking an Earth Flow class that I am absolutely loving!

We took the girls to the zoo. Notice the baby in mama's pouch! It was one of the highlights of our trip.

We got our second prizes from the library. More books for the girls, and a tumbler for me which has become my go to water cup every day since I got it.

One of my New Year's resolutions was to run 300 miles this year (double what I recorded running last year) and I did it! I have since set another goal to run 200 more miles by the end of the year. I just started training for a race I am running in September, my first 10k race. I have raced a 5k distance and half marathon distance, but not 10k. Is that weird?

We have lots more fun stuff planned for the rest of the summer, like visiting Sleeping Bear Dunes and going to the beach a few times. We are also signed up for The Color Run next month and we are taking the girls with us in the jogging stroller, so that should be a blast! What fun things have you been up to this Summer?

    1. Hi Nicole! How's your Summer going? I've missed reading your blog posts. Aren't those breakfast radishes pretty? They're one of my favorite things to take pictures of at the farmer's market. I LOVED the Ghost 6, but my LRS had their annual sidewalk sale and I ended up buying the New Balance 870v2. They feel great and I love them, but I kind of feel like I'm cheating on Brooks since they are all I've worn for the past couple of years!

P.s. When did you start a training site?! So neat!
