The Color Run

On Saturday we made our way an hour north to Grand Rapids to do The Color Run. Chris and I did it last year in Ypsilanti by ourselves and this year we decided to take the girls along with us (kids under 5 are free, heck yeah!). We met his sister, his aunt and her two girls, and some of his aunt's friends and their kids at the race site. We had both girls in the jogging stroller and that was fine until our wave started and our youngest decided that she HAD TO BE CARRIED!!! unless we wanted to hear her screaming the whole run. Ugh. So one of us carried her and the other pushed the stroller while we jogged to try to catch up with the rest of our group. We ended up walking 2/3 of the course, but after last year's experience we really didn't expect to run much of it, especially with the double stroller. There are just too many people to weave in and out of. We made it through all the color stations without any problems, you know other than carrying a 25 lb. 2 year old for 3 miles, and we all had a blast! Our oldest is already asking when we can do it again and I think it's so neat that we can get them involved in things like this at such a young age. On to the pictures! Most are courtesy of my husband (Spiral Wide Photography) and a few are from my iPhone, which still has a blue/purple stained case.

Our Color Run swag-bib, t-shirt, sweatband, wristband, color packet (pink), and 2 tattoos.

  1. I just got on to comment and ask for a Color Run update, and there it was! I think Chris's face is my favorite part of the aftermath. I'm glad the girls had fun too. Also, did your t-shirts you wore change from the original one you posted?

    1. We ended up wearing our Color Run shirts that we got last year. The ones we got this year are actually really nice and soft, and we never wear our old ones anymore, so we figured it would be fun to get them all colorful. I still need to buy some vinegar to set the color and we'll see if it actually stays on the shirt!
